Security is of great importance to our hospital. The Internal security service takes permanent measures to prevent thefts, vandalism, aggression and other criminal acts. Many entrance doors are electronically secured and only accessible by badge. In some places, there is camera surveillance.
Our in-house security officers are available day and night and are assisted by an external security firm.
Money and valuables
You too can contribute to hospital security. Do not bring large sums of money or valuable objects to the hospital. UZ Gent is not responsible for loss or theft.
If you do have valuables, please hand them over for safekeeping at the Admissions and registration desk in the central reception (entrance 11). There are also lockers in some rooms, please make maximum use of them. The nurses will be happy to help you.

Lost property
Have you lost something on our hospital campus? The Internal security service keeps track of lost objects for six months. Call or e-mail us with a description of the lost object. The security officers will check whether we have found it. If so, you can pick it up at entrance 77.

Reporting incidents
In emergencies such as fire or aggression, call the hospital telephone number 88. Never take initiatives yourself that could jeopardise your safety.
If you become a victim of crime during your stay in our hospital, we ask you to report it to the Internal security service. In this way, we can take more targeted and effective action to enhance patient safety.

The Internal security service of UZ Gent is insured against physical or material damage arising from the performance of its private security activities. Injured parties may apply directly to Ethias, Prins-Bisschopssingel 73, 3500 Hasselt. The policy number is 45.427.391.
