On arrival at the nursing ward, go to the secretarial office or the nursing station. A nurse will accompany you to your room and explain how the ward works. You can ask your questions and communicate your wishes. The nurse may also put you in touch with other staff such as a social worker, psychologist or minister of worship.
The nurse will ask you some questions about your living habits. You choose which questions you answer. The information is recorded in your nursing file and is subject to professional confidentiality.
On simple request, you can speak to the head nurse . He or she is responsible for the organisation of the ward and is in charge of the nurses.
Identification bracelet
When you registered, you were given an identification bracelet on your wrist. This is done for security reasons. To avoid mistakes, you must wear this bracelet for the entire duration of your admission. Only when you leave the hospital will you be allowed to remove the bracelet.
Make sure:
- that you wear the bracelet continuously
- that the bracelet bears your correct surname, first name and date of birth
- that the nurse or Admissions and registration staff member asks you to check the data when they apply the bracelet.
Hearing-impaired and deaf patients may choose to wear an additional, orange wristband that makes it clear to care workers that they are hearing-impaired or deaf.
If your bracelet is removed during your stay, for example because it is dirty or to insert a drip, you will get a new one immediately. If a bracelet is not possible, we will provide an alternative.
